Word of advice: the map downloader expects it to be a ZIP file, and the folder layout must not contain a bond folder. Inside the zip file should just contain the folders "maps", "textures", "sprites", etc.


The map dm_aerowalk (alpha) was uploaded incorrectly (which is now fixed), and I would like to let people know that dm_disco_alfa3.zip is corrupt and needs to be reuploaded. Thanks

Hi,

 

yes, i saw it was corrupted, so I tried to overwrite /delete dm_disco_alfa3, but I don't have appropriate ftp permissions. I uploaded it with the name "dm_disco_alfa4.zip" instead. Can you please delete #3? Thanks :)

 

In all the zips I uploaded is/was another zip-file inside with the corresbonding .rmf and or map files for the gearcraft (lol beerdraft) editor.

 

How to handle it in future if someone wants to share the original .map /.rmf (and/or the v11 models and the textures for the v11 models) of the map he made inside the package?

 

For the models I think it would be the best to use the structure the nightfire-editor-suite installation or whatever uses (I mean to make a subfolder "\models" => below the "maps"-folder and put the v11 models in there,,, and a sub-subfolder "\models\textures" for the textures beeing visible in the the gearcraft editor. But where to put the .map /.rmf- file in?

 

Another possibillity was the zip-file inside the zip like I did in my uploads some days ago, but if this causes problems, please tell me / us how to include it the best way. Maybe a .rar inside the .zip ?

 

I am asking because all of the maps I uploaded contain multiple errors and I am full of hope that somebody will wanna fix them :P

The latest modified version of Gearcraft that has tons of bugfixes and actually no longer looks in the bond/models folder for models. I can't remember if it still looks in maps/models, but the latest version actually expects things to be in the Gearcraft folder, which is the best setup.


As for the map uploading, a zip inside a zip is fine, i recommend putting your .rmf files or whatever in the maps folder instead of the bond folder

Hi,


is there a download-link for the most recent gearcraft editor? I couldn't find it on the nightfirepc.com website.


Should i use a copy of  a fresh installation (I have a backup of my nightfire with a fresh installation I can use for) because I already have a copy of the NFBSP Suite2 installed? Will the installation routine unpack the "assets.007" file or do I have to do it manually?


Another thing I want to mention is that people uploading maps should NOT include textures that are already existant in the Nightfire game (like all the textures in the assets.007 file,,,) because they may overwrite already existing (modified) textures and furthermore there are many different language versions of the game (like german, us, netherland, etc..) with territorially localized textures like signs with writings on them and you dont want your "fire-extinguisher" to be renamed to "Feuerlöscher" in german language, or?


After installing the 5.8xdunno LITE patch, the textures in my special folder were replaced with new (cooler!) ones.In this case i was happy, but it increases the risk it may overwrite things you don't want to be overwritten.


Am I right?

http://nightfire.no-ip.org/files/Gearcraft.zip Latest and most likely final version. There's tonnns of improvements to Gearcraft to make it more user friendly. Most of the changes you'll notice over time, but there's things like transparency rendering and map compiling efficiency improvements, and the compile tools support new special textures like BlockLight and more. Everything is already decompressed from assets.007 in this zip, except for textures. All you need is the textures folder from assets.007. There is a readme included on how to set up the new version. I also included a bunch of rmf maps I worked on previously such as backstreets, alleyways, haunted romania, and more

I downloaded the new gearcraft editor and opened a map in it and saw some cool improvements,, but i need some weeks in order to reduce my blood alcohol level below 3 permill ,doctor said, before i can tell you any further...
